Histórico

James "Jim" Tucker was born in Ilfracombe, Devonshire, England. He came to Canada in 1906, living in Ontario until moving to Saskatoon in 1912 with his wife, Minnie. After his retirement, they left Saskatoon in September, 1946, moving to Barnstaple, Devonshire, where he died on Jan 16, 1948. He was survived by his wife.

Tucker operated a dry cleaning business, first under the name "Bain and Tucker" ca 1913, then as "The Saskatoon Pantorium" (325 Avenue B South) in about 1915, then finally with Joseph Bate, as "Tucker and Bate" at Avenue C and 20th Street. He was the first president of the West Side Business Man's Association, a member of the Cosmopolitan Club and the Oddfellows, and one of the original directors of the Saskatoon Arena Rink when it was built in the 1930s. He served on Saskatoon City Council for eight consecutive terms, from 1927-1934. He was a member of the Parks Board for 19 years, until 1946, and was a devoted gardener, and the winner of several prizes. He retired from the dry cleaning business in 1945.
