Marguerite Gallaway, honourary Doctor of Laws degree recipient, awaits presentation at Convocation held at Centennial Auditorium. Dignitaries dressed in academic gowns.

Bio/Historical Note: Marguerite (Cameron) Gallaway was born in Birsay, Saskatchewan, in 1929. Gallaway earned arts degrees at the Universities of Saskatchewan and Regina, respectively. In 1974 she became executive director of the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils, and over the next thirteen years developed it into one of Canada’s strongest artistic networks. Gallaway was also on the board of the Saskatchewan Centre of the Arts, a member of the Saskatchewan Talent Selection Committee of SaskExpo 86, and president of the Saskatchewan Council of Cultural Organizations. In 1988, she received the Saskatchewan Order of Merit and was made a Member of the Order of Canada two years later. Gallaway resides in Estevan, Saskatchewan (2020).
