Administrative history
According to newspaper articles, the Moose Jaw Horticultural Society existed as far back as 1922, but there is no information available documenting when the Society was formed and by who. They are affiliated with the Saskatchewan Horticultural Society and the Division of Extension and Community Relations Division of the University of Saskatchewan.
The Society held regular meetings, including educational meetings when presenters spoke on topics of horticulture. Every year a “green thumb” sale as held for the public to purchase bedding out plants, houseplants and perennials. Members attended provincial horticultural shows and conventions. Annually, the Moose Jaw Horticultural Society had perennial competitions, yard and garden competitions, a garden tea, and a fall fair and banquet, with local businesses, groups or individuals sponsoring prizes. The Moose Jaw Horticultural Society disbanded in 2005. Remaining funds were donated to the Moose Jaw Public Library.
