Bio/Historical Note: Dr. Raymond Earl McDermott was born 12 July 1930 in Timmins, Ontario, He obtained a diploma in Architectural Technology from Ryerson, and then changed careers to work as a dentist in Ontario in both the private and public sectors. Dr. McDermott earned his DDS in 1961 and his MSc and Specialty Certification in Dental from the University of Toronto. In 1975 he accepted an associate professor position in the College of Dentistry at the University of Saskatchewan. He was department head of several departments and in 1992 was appointed dean. Dr. McDermott retired in 1998 and was named professor emeritus. Dr. McDermott died on 1 March 2018 in Victoria, British Columbia, at age 88.
