Bio/Historical Note: Dr. Daniel McFadden was born 20 December 1925 in Meevagh Co. Donegal, Ireland. He attended St. Eunan's College, Letterkenny, Ireland, and on completing secondary school, went directly into medical school at University College, Dublin, graduating in 1950. Dr. McFadden interned and did further surgical training in Ireland and England before emigrating to Canada in 1957. Dr. McFadden started his Canadian medical career in general practice in Hodgeville, Saskatchewan, before joining the University of Saskatchewan in 1960 and then becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. Over the years he was on the medical staff of Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon City Hospital, Saskatoon St. Paul's Hospital and the Saskatoon Sanitorium. He was Chief of Surgery at St. Paul's Hospital and Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. McFadden died on 15 November 2003 in Saskatoon.
