Dr. Colette Wheler, Wild and Exotic Animal Society (WEAMS), Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM), holds an owl.

Bio/Historical Note: Dr. Colette Wheler graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) in 1984 and spent 3 years in small animal practice before returning to WCVM for a MVS degree in avian, exotic pet, and wildlife medicine. Following completion of her Master’s program in 1990, she remained at WCVM for 12 more years, teaching veterinary students, caring for exotic pets, supervising the wild bird clinic, and providing veterinary services to the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo. In 2002 Dr. Wheler switched her focus to Laboratory Animal Medicine and Research and spent the next 10 years caring for the U of S’s research animals and helping to administer the University’s Animal Care and Use program. In 2012, she took a year out to study poultry medicine, and joined VIDO as a Clinical Research Veterinarian in June 2013.
