Administrative history
Ruddell Pastoral Charge was formed as a self-sustaining United Church charge in 1925, part of Battleford Presbytery and consisting of the preaching points at Denholm and Ruddell. By 1936, the Lilac appointment was added and, by 1940, the charge had been renamed Ruddell-Denholm Pastoral Charge. As of 1951, Wavie Bank was also listed as a preaching point. Sometime between 1951 and 1958, the charge was closed, with Ruddell joining Maymont Pastoral Charge and Denholm joining Battleford Pastoral Charge (as of 1962).
Custodial history
Original provenance for many of the records in the fonds is unclear. Initial items were transferred to the archives between 1925 and 1986.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of textual materials generated by Ruddell Pastoral Charge and its predecessors, as well as their constituent congregations – church boards, committees and related bodies, local women’s units and other groups.
Contents include: minutes of Session and congregational meetings; records of local Ladies Aid Societies, Woman’s Association (W.A.) and United Church Women (UC.W.) groups; various financial records; communion and historic rolls; and a register of baptisms, marriages, and burials held at Ruddell and related locations.
