Head and shoulders image of Dr. Robert Connell, professor of Veterinary Science, 1956-1964.

Bio/Historical Note: Born in [1914] at Mitchell, Iowa, Dr. Robert Connell graduated with his DVM in 1943 from the Ontario Veterinary College at Guelph, Ontario. He then practiced veterinary medicine in his hometown of Aberdeen, Saskatchewan, and in North Battleford. After receiving an MSc in 1949 from the Institute of Parasitology, Macdonald College at McGill University, Dr. Connell went in 1949 to Lethbridge, Alberta, as officer-in-charge at the Lethbridge laboratories of the Federal government’s health of animals division. Dr. Connell came to the University of Saskatchewan in 1958 as professor and head of the department of veterinary science. Dr. Connell died in 1964 in Saskatoon at age 50. The Robert Connell Memorial Prize in Parasitology is awarded annually by the College of Medicine.
