Bio/Historical Note: Dr. Robert W. Kerrich was born in 1948 in England. He received his BSc at the University of Birmingham, England in 1971; his MSc at Imperial College, University of London in 1972 and his PhD at Imperial College in 1975. In 1975 Dr. Kerrich was awarded a NATO post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Western Ontario where he remained on faculty until 1987, when he moved to the University of Saskatchewan. In 1992 Dr. Kerrich was the youngest person ever to be elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. In 1996 he was awarded an earned Doctor of Science degree in Geology from the U of S. Dr. Kerrich was a highly regarded expert in the early evolution of the earth as well as the formation of ore deposits. His research in understanding gold, base metal, diamond and uranium deposits led him to the forefront of economic geology. Dr. Kerrich continued to research and write tirelessly until the day of his death at age 65 on 17 April 2013.
