Scope and content

The Saskatchewan Bulletin, June 12, 1987, p. 3; "Jogging the minister. Provost, Alberta, teacher Colleen Kennedy, left, presents a school bell to Alberta Education Minister Nancy Betkowski, right, on the steps of the legislature May 25 at the end of a three-day, 300-km relay run from Provost to Edmonton by more than 200 teachers, parents, students and school trustees. The bell, which served as a symbolic baton, is inscribed with the relay's theme: Preserve Education Please! As news media look on, run organizer Kennedy tells Betkowski the event's purpose was to publicize the concern many Albertans have for the well-being of their education system in the face of the government's recently announced three-per-cent school funding cutbacks."
