Emmett M. Hall, University Chancellor, is making presentation of an honourary Docotor of Laws degree to Jack McFaull at Convocation held in Centennial Auditorium.
Bio/Historical Note: Dr. John Young (Jack) McFaull was bom in 1926 in Philadelphia and raised at Zealandia, Saskatchewan, where he became a farmer. He earned a diploma in Agriculture in 1944 from the University of Saskatchewan and became a lecturer and instructor in Agricultural Engineering. He later joined Manufacturers Life Insurance Co. in 1955. Dr. McFaull was extensively involved as founding member, board member, instructor or adviser to numerous organizations, including the University Senate (member from 1971-1979) and Board of Governors (chair from 1972-1974); the Crop Development Centre, SED Systems, VIDO, POS, SaskTel, Institute of Society and Humanity, Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre, Nobel Plaza, and Innovation Place. Dr. McFaull received honours from the Saskatchewan Agricultural Grads Association, Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologlsts, an honourary Doctor of Laws degree from the U of S (1991), and CFQC Citizen of the Year (1979). In addition, he helped develop the Goodale and Termuende farms acquired by the university for agricultural and veterinary medical research. He was actively involved as president of J E.M. Consulting Inc. and consultant for McFaull Consulting Inc. McFaull died in Saskatoon in 1999. He was posthumously honoured on 5 June 2002 with the opening of the Dr. Jack McFaull Building, 421 Downey Road, at Innovation Place. Also named for Dr. McFaull are McFaull Crescent, Lane, Manor, Rise and Way in the Brighton neighbourhood (2020). His son, Herb McFaull, and husband Tony Bidulka, were awarded the CFQC Citizen of the Year in 2015.
