Bio/Historical Note: George Arnold Reeve Hart was born and educated in Toronto; he began his banking career there in 1931. During the Second World War Hart served with distinction in the Royal Canadian Army, joining as a lieutenant and achieving the rank of major. He was a Member of the Order of the British Empire (Military Division). Upon returning from overseas, Hart served with the Bank of Alberta and New York before being assigned to head office. He was director of several companies and community organizations and a member of many service, welfare and business organizations. Among those included were the Investment Committee of the Canada Council, the Canadian Council of the International Chamber of Commerce, and the Quebec Division of the Health League of Canada. president and chief executive officer of the Bank of Montreal, and deputy chairman of the Bank of London and Montreal Limited, Nassau, Bahamas. Hart died in 2002.
