Bio/Historical Note: Klaas Post (1946-2018) arrived in Canada from The Netherlands in 1968 and made an impact on soccer, as an athlete, coach, administrator and official. After playing with the University of Guelph Gryphons, he came to the University of Saskatchewan where he was soccer team captain in 1978, its coach from 1979-1981, and later an assistant coach. After completing an internship at the WCVM in 1974-1975, Dr. Post worked in a small animal practice in Calgary for two years. In 1977, he returned to the University of Saskatchewan to complete a clinical residency in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Studies. Dr. Post joined the WCVM faculty in 1979. He was active with Saskatoon United as a player and coach and was instrumental in building minor programs with the Lakewood boys' teams from 1990-2001. He was an executive with the Saskatchewan Soccer Association and committee member on national events held in Saskatoon. Post was also heavily involved with the Saskatoon Lions Speed Skating Club. He was recognized for volunteerism by Sask Sport, and youth coach of the year by the Saskatchewan Soccer Association. He played soccer until the age of 65. Post was a professor emeritus in Veterinary Medicine. He died in Saskatoon in 2018 at age 72.
