Biographical history
Peter James Loptson was born in Toronto, Ontario on 18 June 1945. He earned his BA at York University in 1967, and both his MA (1968)and PhD (1972) from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Loptson joined the University of Saskatchewan in 1970 and became a full professor in 1982. He remained at the University of Saskatchewan until 1998, when he left to head the department of philosophy at the University of Guelph. Dr. Loptson's primary areas of research include metaphysics and 17th and 18th century philosophy, and logic. The author of numerous books and articles, Loptson was also English-language editor of Dialogue: Canadian Philosophical Review.
