Bio/Historical Note: Dr. Donald I. Norum received BE (1961) and MSc (1963) degrees in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan. In 1967 he completed a PhD in Civil Engineering at the University of California, Davis. In July 1967 he joined the faculty of the Department of Agricultural Engineering at the U of S as assistant professor. Dr. Norum’s specialty areas were irrigation systems and flow in porous media. In addition to teaching and supervising graduate students in his specialty areas, he also taught courses in the General Engineering program, in particular, Graphics and Design, Probability and Statistics, and Linear Systems and Design. He spent 14 years in administration in the college, eight years (1986-1994) as department head, Department of Agricultural and Bioresource Engineering and six years (1984-2000) as assistant dean (Undergraduate Administration). Dr. Norum retired in 2002.
