Mr. James and Mrs. Ann Rose homesteaded here in 1905 in Mr. Rose's 68th year. Ann died in 1908 and James remarried and farmed until 1919 when he returned to England where he died in 1923 at the age of 86. They are the namesake of Rosetown.
