Biografie

Mansel Robinson was born in Chapleau, Northern Ontario on the 9 May 1955. He has a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario (1980) and a M.A. from Concordia University (1992) both in English Literature. Mr. Robinson is a well known Canadian playwright whose plays have met with critical acclaim. His staged works include Bite the Hand, Collateral Damage, Colonial Tongues, Downsizing Democracy, Ghost Trains, The Heart as It Lived, Picking up Chekhov, Scorched Ice, Spitting Slag, and Street Wheat. He has also published Slag, a book of short fiction and poetry. In addition to his writing, Robinson was been writer in residence at the University of Windsor, the Berton House in Dawson City and Northern Light Theatre in Edmonton. He was the 2005/06 writer in residence at the Regina Public Library.

This fonds contains material related to the literary career of Mansel Robinson. There is correspondence regarding publishing, staging productions, residencies and grant applications. The fonds also contains drafts and edited scripts, research material, reviews and published material related stage productions. In addition the fonds contains five war diaries and an address book of Geo. J. Collinson who was stationed in France during the Great War.
