General note

The pool's opening ceremonies were on July 19, 1950. Several dignitaries from Saskatoon came out for the event including Saskatoon Mayor J.S. Mills, Harry Bailey, President of the Canadian Swimming Association for Saskatchewan, and Roy Ellis, head of the Saskatoon playgrounds. With them came the Saskatoon Aquacade Swimmers with a special water show. In order to fill the pool that first year, volunteers hauled the water in their trucks.
