Head and shoulders image of Dr. John R. Gutelius, Dean, College of Medicine, 1971-1974.

Bio/Historical Note: Dr. John Robert Gutelius was born in Montreal in 1929. He earned his MD from McGill University in 1955, specializing in vascular surgery. Dr. Gutelius was on staff at the following hospitals in Kingston, Ontario: surgeon-in-chief at Hotel Dieu Hospital; attending staff at both Kingston General and St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital; and professor and head of Department of Surgery, Queen's University. He was dean of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan from 1971-1974. Dr. Gutelius died in Kingston on 4 December 2000 at age 71.
