In June, Gordon Barnhart, BA'66, MA'77(U of R), was appointed associate director and senior programs officer at U of S International. Currently completing his PhD in history here, he has most recently served as the clerk of the Senate of Canada, involved in the training of legislators and legislative staff in the transitional economies of Russia and South Africa. He will assist USI director Asit Sarkar and assume particular responsibilities in mangaing the University's Yeltsin Democracy Fellowship Program. Meanwhile, Kelly Kozak, as USI program director, will assume responsibilites for managing all aspects of academic exchanges and study abroad programs.

The U of S House Band performed throughout the noon-hour and afternoon, and presented Ivany with a CD of their songs, including one written for the retiring president.
