Algemene aantekening
Inscriptions on the front: "H.M. King Edward VIII" (the caption below the photograph) and ""Van Dyk London" (on the photograph - bottom left-hand corner). Inscriptions on the back: "Excel Series Post Card - This is a real photograph - Printed in England" . There is no local content in this item but it is a high-quality sepia-tone photograph of King Edward VIII. He was king for less than one year in 1936 because he had proposed to American Wallis Simpson, who was seeking a divorce from her second husband. He was succeeded by his younger brother George, who became King George VI, the father of Queen Elizabeth II. Edward and Wallis married in 1937 and, after WWII, went to live in France
