Head and shoulders image of George Baxter, Professor, Commerce.
Bio/Historical Note: George C. Baxter was born in 1938. He completed a B.Comm from the University of Saskatchewan in 1959, majoring in Accounting. Baxter joined the U of S in 1966 as assistant professor in Accounting. Baxter took an educational leave from 1969-1972 to complete a PhD in Accounting at the University of Minnesota. The next thirty years were spent in leadership roles within the College of Commerce and at the University level. Baxter delayed retirement to act as Dean of Commerce in the spring of 2001. Upon retirement he was named Professor Emeritus. Baxter died in May 2002.
