Head and shoulders image of Dr. Elizabeth Ives, associate professor of Pediatrics and lecturer in Social and Preventative Medicine.

Bio/Historical Note: Dr. Elizabeth Ives was associate professor of Pediatrics and lecturer in Social and Preventative Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in 1965. Dr. Ives served as a professor of genetics and pediatrics in the Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University, from 1988-1998 and afterwards, served as adjunct professor. Dr. Ives established the Provincial Medical Genetics Program and was the first professor of genetics in the faculty. Pioneering work in genetics was also undertaken by Dr. Ives, who was in charge of Newfoundland's provincial genetics program from 1988-1998. She mapped out hereditary deafness in a family along Newfoundland’s south coast. Dr. Ives was named Professor Emerita in May 2008.
