Bio/Historical Note: Image appeared in 4 Sept. 1998 issue of OCN.

Bio/Historical Note: Dr. Vivian J. Hajnal was born on 21 December 1943 in Dauphin, Manitoba. She was a teacher at every level, from elementary school to a PhD and in every locale from a one-room school on her beloved prairies to programs in China and Ukraine. When there was no preschool for her young kids, Dr. Hajnal started her own. When women didn't get MBAs, she did. When she saw an opportunity to sell candles, she built her own store, eventually expanding to a wholesale enterprise. After Dr. Hajnal's kids left for college, she went and earned her PhD. For over two decades Dr. Hajnal was a professor in the College of Education and a faculty member in the Department of Educational Administration at the University of Saskatchewan, She was later appointed associate dean of Education. Dr. Hajnal died on 19 May 2016 in a car accident near her cabin on Dauphin Lake, Manitoba.
