Head and shoulders image of Dr. Suzanne Yip (BA'58, MD'60), Radiology, Medicine.
Bio/Historical Note: Dr. Suzanne Yip and family immigrated to Saskatchewan from Hong Kong in the early 1950s. She met her future husband, Dr. Ivan Jen (BA’57, MD’60), while attending medical school at the University of Saskatchewan. Suzanne and Ivan overcame significant obstacles to attend the U of S and were the first two Chinese-born immigrants to graduate from the College of Medicine in their respective specialties of radiology and dermatology. Following specialty training in Diagnostic Radiology and receipt of her FRCP designation, Dr. Yip became a tenured faculty member of the Uof S's College of Medicine in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology (now Medical Imaging), practicing from 1968 until her retirement in 1996. In addition to clinical practice, a significant component of Dr. Yip’s work comprised teaching undergraduate as well as postgraduate students.
