Dr. Maria Baca-Estrada and Dr. Lorne Babiuk, microbiologists, Western College of Veterinary Medicine, examine an experinent.
Bio/Historical Note: Dr. Maria Baca-Estrada earned a BSc in microbiology and biochemistry from the Universidad Autonoma de Chihuahua (Mexico); and a PhD in immunology from the University of Glasgow (Scotland). She did post-doctoral work at McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario) from 1990-1992, and further work at the University of Saskatchewan involving vaccine research, adjuvants and delivery systems from 1992-1994. Dr. Baca-Estrada is Manager, Bacterial and Combination Vaccines Division, Health Canada (2021).
