Bio/Historical Note: Dr. Harry Deneer obtained his BSc in Microbiology and his MSc in Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, both from the University of Manitoba. He earned his PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of British Columbia. His post-doctoral research was spent with the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO) at the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Deneer teaches in the Pathology Residency program in the areas of virology, infectious diseases, and general molecular pathology. He also teaches two full courses on Introductory Microbiology, one to students in the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition and another to Nursing students. Dr. Deneer twice received the University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union Teaching Excellence Award, in 2002 and most recently in 2016. He is head of the Molecular Microbiology Laboratory (2021) which is part of the Division of Clinical Microbiology in the Saskatoon Health Region.
