Head and shoulders image of Dr. Carlos Maningas, General Pediatrics, College of Medicine.
Bio/Historical Note: Dr. Carlos Santos Maningas was born on 4 November 1926 in the Philippines. He graduated with degrees in Liberal Arts and Medicine in 1955 from the University of Santo Tomas. After graduation “Doc” was a pediatrician in various locations in the United States and later moved to Canada. He practiced in Nova Scotia, Winnipeg, North Battleford, and finally Saskatoon where he and his family settled in 1959. Dr. Maningas served as physician in-charge at the School for the Deaf from 1968-1979, and from 1979-1994 he was an associate professor in Pediatrics at the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. He also became director of Ambulatory Pediatrics at Royal University Hospital. After a brief retirement from RUH Dr. Maningas went back working part-time. He permanently retired from medical practice in 2012. Maningas Bend in the Evergreen neighbourhood of Saskatoon is named in honour of Dr. Maningas.
