This fonds consists of materials used, created, and accumulated by Don Cochrane relating to his academic career. It includes University of Saskatchewan administrative and course materials as well as files relating to the organization and operation of the Breaking the Silence Conference and the Certificate in Ecological Education (CERTEE) program. There are also a number of files detailing international study tours organized by Don Cochrane through the College of Education.
This fonds also includes a file of class notes which were created by Lorne Dignean, a student in the College of Education at the University of Saskatchewan from 1950 to 1951. Mr. Dignean was a teacher for over 35 years at schools around Saskatoon. He taught for the most years at Clavet School, where he provided a scholarship in his family name in 1999. Lorne Dignean died in 2018.

Ordening
The bulk of the material came to the University Archives & Special Collections in labelled binders, numbered from 1 to 39. The original order has been maintained. The file numbers for files 1 to 39 match the original numbering which the donor had assigned to the binders. (For example, file 1 was originally binder 1). The material in files 40 to 46 were not originally in numbered binders but had numbers assigned by University Archives & Special Collections staff for ease of access. While going through materials for an additional donation in 2017, the donor found materials related to Breaking the Silence that should have been included in the original accession of documents. These materials were added into the fonds chronologically, as directed by the donor, in file 46. A few other folders were also amended slightly by the donor at that time (some materials added, some duplicates removed).
