Head and shoulders image of Dr. Dave Fowler, Western College of Veterinary Medicine.

Bio/Historical Note: Dr. Dave Fowler was born and raised in Casper, Wyoming. Veterinary medicine was his passion from a very young age, and he realized his dream of becoming a veterinarian at Colorado State University. After graduation he completed an internship at the University of Saskatchewan in 1980 in small animal medicine and surgery followed by a small animal surgical residency. Dr. Fowler successfully passed board examinations as a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1987. He served on the small animal surgical faculty at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon from 1984-2002. He also served as head of the Department of Anesthesiology, Radiology and Surgery from 1997-2000. Dr. Fowler’s specialty was in microvascular reconstructive surgery. Dr. Fowler left university life in 2002 to enter private practice helping to build a specialty and referral practice first in Calgary and now with VCA Canada Guardian Veterinary Centre in Edmonton (2021)
