Benjamin George Hewson was born in 1919, the son of Stan and Winnie (Holden) Hewson. He grew up on the family farm northeast of Indian Head. During WW2, he joined the RCAF as a flying instructor and then piloted a Dakota DC-3 for the RAF in India with flying missions over Burma.
