Bio/Historical Note: Christ Church Anglican, located at 515 28th Street West in Saskatoon, is built on land that was donated by the real estate firm of Ashworth and Holmes. Members of the congregation hauled granite rocks from the banks of the South Saskatchewan River and built a one metre thick foundation for the church. Due to a lack of funds needed to complete the church, a roof was built over the foundation. Finally, in 1954, Christ Church proper was built. Designed by Webster and Gilbert, it features a mix of Gothic Revival style, with strong Norman influences such as its central lantern spire and numerous stained glass windows. The church was designed to be impressive, as its congregation once hoped it would be the Anglican cathedral for the diocese.
