Bio/Historical Note: Christopher James Langbourne Lind was born in 1953 and was educated at Appleby College in Oakville, Ontario, and at Tonbridge School in Kent, England. Lind earned a BA from York University, an MDiv from Trinity College (Toronto) and a PhD in Theology from the University of St. Michael's College, specializing in Ethics and Economics. From 1985-2003 Lind was based in Saskatoon, first as professor of Church & Society and then as president of St. Andrew's Theological College. From 2000-2003 he served as president of the amalgamated St. Andrew's College and St. Stephen's College in Saskatoon and Edmonton, sponsored by the United Church of Canada. Lind was a prolific writer on issues of social justice, authoring or co-editing five books in the areas of ecumenism, social ethics, globalization, mission, and theology. At the time of Lind’s death he was executive director of Sorrento Centre, an Anglican Church retreat and conference centre in British Columbia.Prior to leading the Sorrento Centre, Lind was director of the Toronto School of Theology, one of the largest and most diverse ecumenical theological cooperatives in North America. Chris Lind died 11 July 2014 in Vancouver at age 61.
