History
The Canadian Pacific Railway Company (CPR) was incorporated as a company on February 16, 1881. George Stephen was chosen as the first president of the company. The CPR made Moose Jaw a divisional point in 1883, and built freight yards and facilities at the town. The famous Soo Line from Chicago to Moose Jaw was added in 1893.
Due to the waning popularity of passenger rail travel, passenger services on the CPR were transferred to VIA Rail in 1978. The CPR still uses its rail lines through Moose Jaw for freight transportation.
