Bio/Historical Note: The report called for 30% enrolment of the working age population in the province's universities.
Bio/Historical Note: Dr. David Harold Male was born 19 March 1939 in Dundas, Ontario, and spent his early years there. He graduated with a BEng from McMaster University in 1962. As a result of winning the Athlone Fellowship, he spent the next two years in Great Britain where he received an MSc in 1964 from the University of Birmingham. He obtained his PhD from the University of Saskatchewan and was hired in 1967, serving as a faculty member of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and was a lead faculty member in the Division of Hydrology, where he accomplished much of his research. Dr. Male’s research at the U of S laid the foundation for the development of the study of hydrology and water security to be a highly recognized area of institutional strength. Dr. Male authored and co-authored many papers and reports both in the Division of Hydrology and other disciplines. He had an international reputation in the area of snow melt energetics and is co-author of books considered to be the foundational texts in his field. Dr. Male also made significant administrative contributions, serving on several important University committees including Academic Affairs, Issues and Options (a study that formed the blueprint for the revival of the University as it moved forward into the twenty-first century) and the President's Budget Advisory Committee. Dr. Male died 16 September 2020 in Saskatoon.
