The 217th Battalion was organized in February 1916, recruited in eastern Saskatchewan, and mobilized at Moosmin Saskatchewan.
The 217th Embarked from Halifax June 2nd, 1917 aboard the Olympic, and disembarked in England June 9th.
Upon arrival they were absorbed by the 19th Canadian Reserve.
