From the the Saskatchewan Bulletin, May, 1962, p. 58; "Highlight of the Kindersley School Unit's fraternal activities was the bonspiel for teachers held in March. Nine rinks, representing most of the schools in the unit, played in two events. The championship trophy, a miniature 'Tree of Knowledge' welded by Arthur Douglas, was taken home by skip Chuck Tolley and his Eatonia rink of Vic Rea, Miss J. Biesenthal and Miss G. Asmuth."

This champion Wolseley, Saskatchewan curling team was presented with clocks and fancy lanterns as their prize. The first three curlers are identified as: Mr. Gourley, accountant with Beaver Lumber, Mr. Ferguson, early manager of Beaver Lumber, and Mr. Biden, an employee of the same firm. The fourth man is unknown. These men were all employed by the firm at the turn of the 20th century.

Bio/Historical Note: Fred (Bud) Carson (1923-2013) enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (BE 1945) in 1942. He was a member of the Huskies football team for three years and was captain of the team in 1945. Carson was a guard on the basketball team for three years and also played water polo. He was president of the Men's Athletic Board for two years (1943-1945), and also coached the Huskiette basketball team for one year. In 1945 Carson received the Rusty McDonald Trophy for sportsmanship, leadership and athletic ability during his undergraduate years. He married Aldis Peterson (d. 1998), also an inductee into the University of Saskatchewan Athletic Wall of Fame. Carson died in 2013 in Brockville, Ontario at age 90.
