UNICEF announced that 1979 was the International Year of the Child. The local public health district received $1,000 to fund a local project to emphasize the rights and needs of children. These photos depict the Christmas concert put on by schoolchildren in support.
Dr. Ferguson wrote The Wood Fairies' Christmas Deed in 1929 for his children. This book was the only fictional work of Dr. Ferguson who maintained his permanent residence at the Sanatorium with his wife Helen, and their 7 children.
This particular edition of Ferguson's work was reprinted in 2014 and was illustrated by Liz Toohey-Wiese.
