Part of W.O. Kupsch fonds
Caldera. Sequence of events proposed by one theory of the origin of a caldera. Top: An eruption begins, with fiery clouds and other dust clouds distributing sme material on slopes and surrounding country. Middle: Eruption ccontinues, with part of the cone blown away, and lava flows joining in draining the magma reservoir. Bottom: Most of the cone collapses into reservoirs; some final activity forms cinder cone in caldera. Leet and Judson, 1958, p. 67.
