Gullfoss waterfall of Hvita River showing a rainbow; total falls are 31 m high. There are two falls one above the other. Each falls over the edge of a basalt flow inter-bedded with clastic rocks of less resistance. The staightness of the falls indicates control by tectonic fractures, but no faulting has taken place along them. August 9, 1960.
