Three members of Whitemud Formation: at base white kaolinitic sand, a middle member of brown and black carbonaceous shale and an upper white clay member. Grassy slope on top of Whitemud is covered Frenchman formation and exposures at top of section show the Paleocene Ravenscrag Formation (Paleocene) with the Ferris coal seam at base. Ravenscrag Butte, Saskatchewan. May 1964.

Three stages in erosion of desert mountains

Three stages in erosion of desert mountains (Gilluly, Waters and Woodford, 1952, p. 358). Top shows alluvial fans at foot of only moderately eroded fault block. Centre shows broad pediment embaying deeply eroded range. Bottom shows residual "inselbergs" on broad graded surface of stream erosion.
